> Pronunciation: (ROH-koo-roh-koo-bee)


> English name: Long-necked woman


> Distinctive features: Appears human by day; at night, neck stretches unnaturally long, often winding and curlingaround corners and out of the building she's in. 


> Powers: Neck extension, stealth, fright, mischief.


> Habitat: Villages, homes, occasionally brothels.


> Claim to fame: Rokurokubi are normal looking women by day who reveal their yōkai form only at night. showing the idea that appearances can be deceiving. They appear a lot in tales warning of hidden danger, secret guilt, or suppressed desires, often surprising those who think they know them. Stories range from mischievous antics like stealing or scaring neighbors, to morally charged lessons about family curses, punishment and the thin line between the mundane and the supernatural.


> Common tattoo depictions: Elongated neck winding through space, subtle horror aesthetic.


> Tattoo symbolism: Duality, hidden nature, secrecy, suppressed identity, the uncanny lurking beneath the everyday, mischief, moral consequence, and the idea that even ordinary appearances can conceal extraordinary power.
