Kitsune://
> Pronunciation: (KEE-tsu-neh)
> English name: Fox spirit
> Distinctive features: Mythological fox with up to nine tails, often surrounded by ghostly fox fire (kitsunebi). Colour hints at alignment: white = good, red/orange = neutral/cheeky, black = evil. Can appear partially or fully human in disguise with tails or ears giving them away.
> Powers: Shapeshifting, illusion magic, conjuring fox fire, exceptional intelligence, trickery, possession, and long life.
> Habitat: Forests, shrines, rural villages, or even cities; anywhere with humans to prank or protect.
> Claim to fame: Divine messengers of Inari Ōkami, and legendary tricksters of Japanese folklore. Famous examples include Tamamo-no-Mae, the nine-tailed fox who infiltrated the imperial court. Both mischievous and protective, kitsune are equally likely to help a kind human as they are to humiliate a greedy one.
> Common tattoo depictions: Kitsune mask, fox head, full-body fox, human-fox hybrid, or fully transformed human with tails or fox fire. Works well with maple leaves, skulls, scrolls, or ghostly flames.
> Tattoo symbolism: Transformation, wisdom, cunning, mischief, spiritual guidance, protection, and the blurred line between the natural and supernatural.
