Kiku://

> Pronunciation: (KEE-koo)

> English name: Chrysanthemum

> Distinctive features: Radiating petals, often somewhat symmetrical in the way are layered although it can look good to have some strays folding down further. edges can be spiky or rounded depending on style. More structured and graphic than peonies, which are lush and soft—kiku feels regal and dignified, less romantic.

> Habitat: Autumn gardens, temple grounds, and seasonal landscapes.

> Claim to fame: One of Japan’s most iconic flowers and a symbol of the imperial family. If peonies are the “king of flowers,” chrysanthemums are the “emperor”: associated with authority, refinement, and enduring prestige rather than just beauty.

> Common tattoo depictions: great at all sizes and with most pairings. kiku are strong enough to stand with the toughest beasts or the most delicate imagery. works great as a small flower bud or sprawling layered bold design.

> Tattoo symbolism: Longevity, rejuvenation, nobility, perfection, and the elegance of the autumn season.
